The Department of Posts has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026 notification for the recruitment of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak posts across different postal circles in India. According to the notification released on 20 August 2026, eligible candidates can complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) from 31 August to 19 September 2026. The online application form and fee payment window will remain open from 2 September to 21 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM.Candidates must submit their applications online through the GDS Online Engagement Portal.

Educational Qualification for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026

The basic educational qualification for GDS posts is a Class 10 pass certificate from a recognised board. Candidates must have passed Mathematics and English in Class 10.

The selection process for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 is based on the Class 10 merit list. Here is the process in simple steps:

  1. No Written Exam: There will be no separate written examination for GDS recruitment.

  2. Class 10 Marks: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Class 10 marks.

India Post GDS employees are paid under the Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) system instead of the regular Central Government salary structure. The TRCA amount increases by 3% every year, subject to the applicable GDS rules. GDS employees may also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), other applicable allowances and social-security benefits as per the rules.

Step 1: Complete One-Time Registration

Visit the official GDS portal and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) using your active mobile number and email ID. Both will be verified through OTP and cannot be changed later.

Step 2: Log In and Fill the Application Form

Log in using your registration number and password. Enter your personal and educational details, including your Class 10 board, passing year and marks.

Step 3: Select Division and Post Preferences

Select a Division for which you are eligible based on the local-language, age, community and other requirements. After that, choose your preferred GDS posts from the available options.

Step 4: Upload Photograph and Signature

Upload your recent photograph and signature according to the required specifications.

  • Photograph: JPG/JPEG, 30 KB to 100 KB

  • Signature: JPG/JPEG, 20 KB to 100 KB

Step 5: Pay the Application Fee

Candidates who are required to pay the fee must pay ₹100 before submitting the application. Candidates eligible for fee exemption do not need to pay the fee.
